Nokia Push Burton - Turn Your Snowboarding Into a Game

This is sick. Nokia and Burton have teamed up to create project that integrates sensors onto snowboards to collect motion data about tricks and movements of the rider. The tricks are collected and scored and sent to the rider's cell phone wirelessly. It is then tracked into a game like interface to be used to compete with other riders.

Sick.

Hi,

I'm the community manager for the Nokia Push projects and am getting in touch as I thought you might like to know what's happened since you wrote about the project.

We're excited to announce that, after much testing and development, the alpha version of Push Snowboarding kit is ready to take to the Burton European Open in Laax, Switzerland this week!

Throughout this week we'll be releasing a series of five videos detailing the R&D work the team have undertaken to create the five sensors that we're using to capture the different types of data from Burton pro riders.

Here's where your readers can get involved: When we return, we'll release the datasets we've captured at the Euro Open to the community at large, and encourage people to show us what's possible with the data. Whether it leads to new ways of looking at snowboarding technique, or crazy visualisations that illustrate the forces impacting a boarder's run, it's open to everyone to help shape the future of Push Snowboarding!

If you'd like to find more details on the project you can find the website on http://pushsnowboarding.com or say hello to us on @NokiaPush. I'm on hand to answer any questions you might have, and am happy to send through anything that you might need.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Matt @ Nokia Push
